History of Mbah Priok

Mbah Priok is a piece of history Jakarta. In the times, around the grave stood a variety of buildings, including buildings without permission.

Mbah Priok then who? Mbah Priok closely related to the history of the city and the development of Islam in Java. Name of Tanjung Priok area we know today, was born from the life story of Mbah Priok.

Mbah Priok is another name Habib Hasan bin Muhammad Al Haddad. Hasan Habib is the propagator of Islam in North Jakarta on the 18th century. Scholars, died in 1756 because his ship hit a storm at sea north of Jakarta.

When Habib Hasan was buried, his tombstone was broken oar and Hasan Habib's rice pot. In the tomb also planted flowers Tanjung. Then, from this tomb was born the name of Tanjung Priok which refers to the flower pot of rice on the Cape and the clergy of this tomb.

Back then, the tomb of Mbah Priok original cottage on the oar. The tomb is then transferred to the current location. As time passed, the area around the tomb of Mbah Priok, grown into an integrated port area of Tanjung Priok.

Until now, the tomb of Mbah Priok become one of the places of pilgrimage in Jakarta. The pilgrims coming from various regions in Indonesia.

Tomb of these scholars, is now located near Container Terminal (TPK) Koja, North Jakarta. In addition to the tomb, there are also some housing owned by residents. Because this region is close to the port, start a dispute arise with residents and heir to the tomb of the port manager.
