Rowan Atkinson's biography

Rowan Sebastian Atkinson (born January 6, 1955, age 57 years) is a comedian, actor, and writer, known for his television series Blackadder and Mr. Bean. According to The Observer, he was one of the 50 funniest people in the UK. He was born in Consett, County Durham in 1955 from the family of Eric Atkinson, a farmer and company director, and his wife Ella May (née Bambridge). Her brother is Rodney Atkinson politician. He attended Durham School choristers, and St Bees School, and studied electrical engineering at Newcastle University. When in school, he was a classmate of former prime minister Tony Blair. He later earned his M.Sc. from Queens College, Oxford.

He began appearing on television at the Nine O'Clock News Not the, followed by The Black Adder, and then Mr. Bean. Atkinson has starred in ads for Hitachi, Fujifilm, blood donor, and Barclaycard. In addition he appeared in the films Never Say Never Again, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Lion King, Rat Race, Love Actually, and played a major role in the Bean, Mr. Bean's Holiday, and Johnny English.

Atkinson married Sunetra Sastry in 1990, had two children, Lily and Benjamin, and lives in rural Oxfordshire. It has a collection of cars and write for the magazines Car and Evo. His car collection consists mostly of Aston Martin, including the DB7 used in Johnny English. Aston Martin V8 Zagato has his license plate number "COM1C", and drove in the film The Tall Guy.
